The One-Color Brioche Knitting Course will cover the basics of working Brioche Knitting flat with one color yarn.  The course will cover the terminology and the construction of the stitches, and the ability to read brioche stitches, which really differ from our normal knit stitches. Increasing and decreasing in one color brioche will also be covered in this class. Students will get a basic understanding of brioche as they work on the Brown County Brioche Cowl. Students should bring: 100 yards /110 m Chunky Weight Yarn, Size 10 US/6 mm 16 in/40 cm circular needles in size needed to obtain desired gauge, 2 stitch markers and tapestry needle.

Learning Cables: An Alternative Constructions with the Celtic Braid Hat, March 8, 2019 from 1-4 pm @ the Jay County Fiber Festival

Learn how to cable with and without a cable needle. The course covers charts vs. written instructions and why you should have a grasp of both types of instructions. The course will also cover non-standard hat construction, and why it offers a greater flexibility on hat sizing. There is also an element of sewing and picking up stitches that is included in the classroom instructions. Students should bring: A 100 g skein of worsted weight yarn; Size 7 US/4.5 mm 16-in circular needle; Size 7 US4.5 mm double point needles; 1 1-1.25-inch decorative buttons to match the yarn; Cable needle & Tapestry needle.
